Featured Artists: Otis Bardwell

Otis Bardwell was born in the United States in 1969, but was raised in Zambia and Kenya (1971-1988). After returning to the United States from Kenya, he received a BA in Music at Wheaton College, Illinois in 1992. Bardwell moved to Los Angeles in 1998 following a year in France working with a non-profit organization.

In 2007, Bardwell earned a MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics and Sculpture from California State University, Los Angeles. He then taught Sculpture and 3-D Design classes for a year as an adjunct at Cal Poly, Pomona. In 2008, Bardwell spent the summer in Skowhegan, Maine as a participant in the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.

Bardwell currently resides in South Pasadena with his wife and two children. He is employed in various free-lance jobs, which include teaching art workshops and substitute teaching, carpentry, painting and light construction, working as an artist’s studio assistant, etc. When not playing with his children, Bardwell spends as much time as possible making art and writing poetry, reading and hiking.

His sculpture can be viewed and purchased directly from his website, but I will have four of his beautiful collectable prints for sale in the gallery with the California Collection coming soon.
